Hunza Valley:
- Nestled in the northern regions of Pakistan, Hunza Valley is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. Surrounded by majestic peaks, including Rakaposhi and Ultar Sar, the valley offers breathtaking landscapes, ancient forts, and warm local hospitality. The lush paradise, and idyllic getaway- these are phrases I would used to describe Hunza Valley. The valley contains a shared allure of natural wonders with its own history plus cultural traditions.
- Hunza Valley is the most developed tourism destination in Pakistan with plenty of foreign and local tourists every season. Despite of development of infrastructures, I faced obstacles when traveling in this beautiful paradise. You need to plan ahead.
- The best time to visit Hunza Valley is during Autumn. I have experienced the vibrant autumn colors where the orange-yellow trees create the perfect setting for photographers making it the most popular seasons to visit Hunza Valley. Autumn can be enjoyed from October to November, however, due to dropping temperature, I suggest to visit Hunza Valley in October.
Skardu:
Known as the gateway to some of the world’s highest peaks, Skardu is a picturesque town in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Explore Shangrila Resort, take a boat ride on Shangrila Resort Lake, and trek to places like Fairy Meadows for awe-inspiring views of Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest mountain in the world. I have been fortunate to visit this paradise and it never grows old.
If you are an adventure seeker like me, Skardu should be your top destination in Pakistan. It is a hidden paradise of the Karakoram Mountain range that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. I had the absolute time of my life when I chose to travel on a motorcycle.
There are many ways to reach Skardu but the easiest way is to book a flight from Islamabad. If adventure is not for you, there are daily flights from Islamabad to Skardu that would take around one hour. A road trip from Islamabad to Skardu will take a 22 hour journey.
Mode of Transportation in Skardu
Once you reached Skardu, you can rent a car, join a tour, or hire a private guide. The places to visit are not accessible by walking distance. There’s no such thing as public transportation, so you would need a private car to travel.
- Shigar Valley – known for its traditional wooden houses and ancient forts. The next day, we visited Sarfaranga Cold Desert, a short drive from the main city. You have the options to rent jeeps, and explore the sand dunes on your own. Alternatively, you can watch a jeep rally which is held annually for an unforgettable experience.
- Sat Para Lake – No doubt that it is a crystal clear lake you shouldn’t missed. If you are heading to Deosai National Park, Sat Para Lake can be accessible while traveling by road.

Swat Valley:
Often referred to as the “Switzerland of Pakistan,” Swat Valley is famous for its lush green valleys, meandering rivers, and historical sites. Malam Jabba, a popular ski resort, and Mingora, the largest city in Swat, are worth exploring.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Lahore, the heart of Pakistan. Visit the historic Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque, and the lively streets of the Walled City. Don’t forget to try the local delicacies, such as Lahore’s famous street food.
